In this episode, we move onto Cobblers’ sister nude beach…Obelisk Beach.
One of the three legal nude beaches in the Sydney area, Obelisk Beach is a secluded, 90-metre clothing-optional beach is located within the Sydney Harbour National Park in Mosman, New South Wales, Australia.
Significant within the LGBTQIA+ community, and often referred to as more of a ‘gay beach’, it is one of three legal nude beaches in the Sydney area, and is only a few hundred metres away from its sister nude beach, and also Sydney's most popular nude beach, Cobbers Beach.
Unlike Cobblers, which is located on the northern side of Middle Head, Obelisk Beach is on the south side of Middle Head just below Chowder Bay Road.
Obelisk is a great place to enjoy some morning sun and soak up those spectacular harbour views and the tranquility it is known for.
Smaller than its sister nude beach, Cobblers, Obelisk is a small cove (around 90 metres or so) of sandy beach with rocky outcrops on either side. The waters are mostly calm and it is a rather picturesque little beach with large boulders you could also lay your towel on if the beach gets crowded.
The beach is bordered by rocks and is backed by vegetated slopes rising to 40m, facing southeast into the harbour. The beach is relatively narrow and steep, with deepwater right offshore. And, unfortunately, there is not a whole lot of natural shading.
There are also some small walking tracks with cute little lookouts just behind the beach (although I would say you’re meant to be clothed on those walking tracks).
All in all, it’s a small but beautiful little cove.
Because I went on a cold and rainy day, I basically had the beach to myself! And it was truly beautiful. Honestly, I think it was almost the most beautiful of the three nude beaches in the Sydney area (including Cobblers and Lady Bay).
It was a little more quaint and cleaner than the other two.
So whilst I was a little cold and it started to rain toward the end of my visit, I’m glad I fit it in on my Sydney nude beach tour…it was well worth it just for the visuals and for the fact that I basically had a nude beach to myself.
But, I would love to see Obelisk on a sunny day when it is its usual self.
I hope you’ll find this episode as serene as the experience was!
With love,
Jessa

Organised by the 'Queensland Naturist Association' (QNA), and the first event of its kind for the club, there were 54 attendees! A great turnout and a sold out event.
