The first of ten French naturist destinations on the French Nakation itinerary...and the one where I felt the most miserable...because, unfortunately, I was so unwell!

Just a few days before arriving at Europe's oldest naturist holiday resort, I came down with a nasty cold that, sadly, prevented me from being able to truly enjoy and explore CHM.

Yep, I was pretty much confined to my mobile home for almost 3 days due to lethargy and coughing fits...so, after months of planning, anticipation and excitement (oh, and flying almost 24 hours across the globe!), you can probably imagine how disappointed I was feeling to have my French Nakation start off like this...

Butt! I still bring you along for my candid experience at CHM...and provide you with as much information as possible to help you plan your next trip there.

CHM, established in 1950, stands for ‘Centre Héliomarin de Montalivet’, and claims to be the world's first naturist holiday resort!

It is also iconic in the naturist world due to being the birthplace of the 'International Naturist Federation (INF)' in 1953!

It is located in Vendays-Montalivet, in the south-west of France, in the Aquitaine region...which is about a 2 hour drive from Bordeaux.

Nestled amongst 200 hectares of wild pine forest, it also backs onto 2km of naturist beach along the Atlantic Ocean.

CHM truly is an entire village in its own right...with a ‘commercial centre’ consisting of around 26 business and more than 3,000 pitches spread over 21 ‘neighbourhoods’!!!

As well as an aquatic waterpark, a plethora of sporting facilities, kids clubs and more, there is always something to do at CHM. Whether you're looking for a relaxing yoga class, some surf lessons, dance parties, live music, flea markets, pétanque, tennis, darts or pine throwing competitions...you can choose how relaxing or how social/adventurous you would like your nakation at CHM to be.
