Cala Morena - an idyllic nude beach under threat

Come and join me for a serene morning at the spectacular nude beach that is ‘Cala Morena’.
Located near the historic town of Cartagena, in the Murcia region, in the south of Spain, it is situated on the Costa Calida, in a south-facing bay, with spectacular mountain views as the backdrop.
I got to enjoy this beach during my 5 night stay at former naturist campsite ‘Camping Naturista El Portús’, as Cala Morena actually fronted the former naturist campsite which basically has private access to this small nude bay.
During my morning at Cala Morena, I sat and appreciated the stunning mountainous views, walked along the pebble beach, enjoyed a refreshing dip in the crystal clear waters, hiked up to see some ruins and met a fellow naturist, Andy, who makes an appearance in the video alongside his trusty snorkel, at the time, was one of the 200 permanent residents of Camping Naturista El Portús.
Up until late 2024, the beach fronted the now-former naturist campsite ‘Camping Naturista El Portús’.
El Portús operated as a family-friendly naturist campsite from 1980 to 2024 and was previously an active member of the Spanish Naturist Federation (F.E.N) and the International Naturist Federation (I.N.F.).
El Portús has historically hosted permanent residents with private dwellings as well as visitors and guests who have had the option of booking rental accomodation in the campsite.
In September 2023, an investment company ‘Newton Capital S.L’ purchased the campsite and started giving residents eviction notices as of November 2023.
Sadly, El Portús is no longer a naturist haven.
Now operating as ‘Camping El Portús’, new managers, ‘Taiga Resorts Costa Cálida’, relaunched the now-textile site in August 2025.
The problem this poses is that the only public road that goes to Cala Morena is via the now-textile campsite.
Otherwise, beach goers can only get there via a difficult climb over the rocks/through the surrounding mountainous terrain (or a boat).
Whilst, previously, Cala Morena was full of nudists (due to the former naturist campsite behind it), with it now being a textile resort, I think it is safe to assume that the beach will see more and more textiles.
I truly hope that the takeover of the naturist campsite now-turned textile does not spill the end of nudity at Cala Morena.
If anything, it should serve as a reminder as to how important it is for us naturists to continue to advocate for our lifestyle and for naturist spaces so that we may continue to enjoy our lifestyle.
Now, get yourself some nibbles, a refreshing drink and sit back, relax and be transported to this nude slice of paradise in the south of Spain.
Besos,
Jessa
