Back in June 2022, my friend, Katya, and I ventured to the North Queensland region to explore the nudist scene up there.

Our first nude beach adventure for the North Queensland trip was a visit to ‘Horseshoe Bay’ in the Bowen area…and, let me tell you, it was an adventure alright!

First of all, its name is somewhat misleading…as the clothing-optional beach is technically ‘Coral Bay’. So, whilst Horseshoe Bay is a stunning beach…you cannot actually go nude at ‘Horseshoe Bay’. You’re better off looking for ‘Coral Bay’.

So, in discovering all of this along the way…it ended up taking us three attempts to find this mysterious nude beach!

In the end, it was well worth the adventure. The landscape is distinguished by beautiful large boulders, lots of pristine rocky bays and outcrops and fringing reef (I truly did not realise how beautiful Bowen was!).

Horseshoe Bay, better described as 'Coral Bay', is an unofficial nude beach located in Bowen in the North Queensland Region of Australia.

Whilst Bowen is better known for its iconic 'Big Mango', even better is its nude beach (and all of its stunning beaches really!).
This episode follows us along for this hilarious and, at times, frustratingly confusing adventure!

I was so excited to capture the landscape and large boulders from an aerial view on the drone...but, alas, I forgot it and didn't realise until I wanted to actually fly the drone!

To our surprise, when we returned a few days later on our way up north, we weren't able to actually fly the drone in the area as the Bowen Airport was within 5km of flying distance...so the drone wouldn't actually take off! Something I'd never previously experienced with the drone. So, there you go!

Along with all the mishaps, the confusion and scrambling over large boulders...the beach itself really is beautiful.

I hope that this video can help you on your search for Coral Bay, should you be exploring in the area...and, in the very least, I hope this video can provide you with a little laugh.
